A clear view of your arteries, now covered by many insurance plans
With AI plaque analysis, your CCTA exam can offer clarity on next steps, including:
- A clear picture of how much plaque is in your arteries, what it’s made of, and how much of the blood vessel is affected—beyond just looking at whether there’s a blockage.
- A better understanding of your heart disease risk and care guidance to improve long-term heart health.
- Helping doctors make more informed decisions about cholesterol-lowering medicines (like statins) and other treatments to help prevent heart problems.

I went in for an Ultrasound to see if I had a blood clot in my leg. By the time I got the results it was 5:00 PM. They could not get a hold of my Dr. and advised me to go to the ER. While in ER they did a CT scan and found I had a Pulmonary Embolism in my lungs. They told me I had a saddle clot (the worst kind) and that I am lucky my lung didn’t collapse and I didn’t have a stroke or a heart attack! I truly believe your techs saved my life by advising me to go to the ER! Thank you!

A CCTA is a non-invasive scan that uses advanced CT technology to create detailed 3D pictures of your heart’s arteries. It shows whether plaque buildup is present and how it may affect your heart health.
A calcium score only measures hardened plaque. CCTA with AI Plaque Analysis looks deeper, measuring all types of plaque, including softer plaque that may be more likely to cause a heart attack in the future.
After your CCTA scan, our advanced AI Plaque Analysis software creates a 3D model of your arteries. It measures plaque buildup, classifies the type of plaque, and shows whether it may affect blood flow. This gives your doctor clearer, more detailed information to guide the best plan for your heart health.
People with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, family history of heart disease, or unexplained chest discomfort may benefit most from a Coronary CTA. Your cardiologist can help decide if it’s right for you.
Yes. CCTA is non-invasive and uses a controlled, low dose of radiation and a small amount of dye (IV contrast). Your care team will make sure it’s safe for you before we proceed.
Your care team will give you instructions before the scan. You will be asked to avoid caffeine for several hours prior to your scan. Medication may be prescribed for you to take prior to your scan, to help lower your heart rate and to ensure high quality images are obtained.
The CCTA scan itself usually takes less than 15 minutes. Your entire visit may take a bit longer to allow for check-in, prep, and recovery.
Your cardiologist usually receives results within a few business days. You’ll then review the findings together and discuss the best plan to protect your heart health.
Coverage varies by age, risk factors, and your insurance provider. If it’s not covered, SimonMed offers affordable self-pay options.
